Speed Post is one of the services in domestic express industry which was started in the year 1986. It is started by Department of Posts which includes the express delivery of letters, documents and parcels across the country and all over the world.

Speed Post is the service of India Postal Department that delivers courier everywhere to everyone and for regular customers home collection facility, credit facilities, online tracking, and many other facilities are available.  The cost for delivering a product using local speed post which weighs upto 50gms is at RS. 12/- inclusive of service tax .

• Speed Post is available on all working days from 9AM to 2PM for sub post offices and till 4PM in PMG offices.
• It remains closed on normal holidays and Sundays.
• It takes 24 to 48 hours to deliver the letters / parcels from the date of acceptance.
• The speed post is available in railway stations which is a 24 hours service and is also available on all days without any break.
• For money orders, sale and payment of postal orders, savings bank and for any other transactions Saturday will be half day and it get closed by 1PM.
• For all the other days i.e. from Monday to Friday the workings hours are for 7 hours daily and all the transactions are done during these hours.
• Speed has its services in more than 1200 towns in India with 290 centres all over the nation.
